I am a life-long reader. Give me a paperback and a full mug, and I'll be up until the sky starts going pink. When I'm reading something I love, I get fully immersed.
For years, I used every book review site you can think of, and let too many of them do my thinking for me. I'd skip a book because the internet said it was bad, or walk away from one that I didn’t like, only to find out that it was beloved. In these moments, I would quietly decide the problem was my own lack of introspection, a better reader would have loved it. I created this space to stop doing that to myself.
I read for myself, because I find joy in it, and because sharing that joy with someone else doubles it. My favorite part of all of this has been hearing from readers who finished the same book and landed somewhere completely different, or who wrote to tell me their own take, creating community.
Take a look in a book with me.
